Summer Update

Thanks for your continued support on our new releases! We hope to keep them coming until the end of the year. SP 001 - 006 are all currently in print and readily available (although limited to their respective pressings). Most colored vinyl versions have sold out, but be sure to check distributors for colored versions of Bee Mask - "Elegy for Beach Friday" (SP - 006).

A few notes on the artists and discography:

SP - 001 - Fabric - "A Sort of Radiance" - reviews at: Dusted Magazine and Zen Effects.

Matthew Mullane also performs solo guitar works and has a great album on VDSQ. Be sure to keep your ear to the ground as he is one of the most talented young individuals in the midwestern U.S. right now.

Matthew Mullane - "Stoked"

SP - 002 - Bee Mask - "Canznoni del Labratorio del Silenzio Cosmico" review at Cyclic Defrost.

Chris Madak has had an eventful year with his much lauded "Canzoni..." LP release and his recently released "Elegy for Beach Friday" (SP - 005)

SP - 003 - Mist - "House" review at Exclaim! with further explanations and thoughts on "House" from Sam Goldberg here. Mist are recording a movie score for "The Sticky Chocolate Kingdom" as well as working on a follow-up 12" for Amethyst Sunset. More from Mist this winter. Sam Goldberg is embarking on a lengthy U.S. summer tour with future Spectrum Spools artist Eric Lanham, the hope beyond the mess via Carl Calm and Palmetto Moon Electronic Group releases. Also a member of the lauded Caboladies project. Summer tour dates are listed here, go support these killer musicians and get ready for an intense LP from Palmetto Moon Electronic Group.

FORMA - L - R - Sophie Lam, Mark Dwinell, and George Bennett
SP - 004 - FORMA - S/T LP - review at Tiny Mix Tapes. A great artist profile at Altered Zones as well! Check it out, this band is incredible and will be recording a new album by 2012. FORMA will perform August 6th at MoMA:
22-25 Jackson Ave.
Long Island City, NY, New York 11101
United States

other acts include Omar S. and Zombi. Be sure to catch FORMA as they continue to take over New York City with their golden music.

SP - 005 - Bee Mask - "Elegy for Beach Friday" - a bit of nice, pre-release anticipation writing care of the wonderful Zen Effects. Chris has been looking forward to the release of his definitive anthology of works dating back as far as 2003. A well tempered album of infinite proportions and possibilities will surely be known as a timeless and classic work of modern electronic music.  Deluxe gatefold vinyl edition with a fine spot gloss ink makes this one of our finest editions to date. Colored vinyl in limited supply, already filtering out via Forced Exposure.

Bee Mask "Elegy for Beach Friday".

SP - 006 - Temporal Marauder - "Makes You Feel" - one of the greatest electronic albums for the future recorded in the past and compiled by it's only fan in the present. The elusive and sometimes frustrating search for information on Jean Logarin and his bandmates trickles information slowly as the original tapes are all almost finally exposed. Only few unreleased recordings remain from this French mystery unit and we are doing our best to issue them to the highest spec. Resonant Strata does not "believe", but this lp has made them most definitely "feel". Write up here. Red vinyl version sold out, limited black copies remain.

That will be all for summer 2011. Expect an exclusive Spectrum Spools mix at the amazing mnml ssgs blog, as well as a mix and interview for Playground Magazine. Have a nice time and see you again in the fall. Imminent releases from: Container, Positive Shadow, and Palmetto Moon Electronic Group (and buy the new insane tape over at mimaroglu). Big end of the year release plans to be announced. Great releases ahead, and thanks again for your continued support.

here's a track from SP - 007: Container due out late summer / early fall.

Hello Summer!

Thanks to our listeners for their support in nurturing a new label in it's earliest beginnings! Spectrum Spools vows to bring you only the finest in forward thinking music, past and present.

Forced Exposure and Kudos Ltd will distribute what's left of the colored vinyl editions of (SP 003) FORMA - S/T and Mist's "House" 2xLP. There was a slight delay due to U.S. customs.

(SP 005) Bee Mask "Elegy for Beach Friday" (there will be pre-order for colored vinyl edition soon) and (SP 006) Temporal Marauder "Makes You Feel" will be ready for you in July, both will sound great for your summer nights and summer daze. Chris gives us a time (s t   o    p   p      i       n         g) capsule to ponder forever while we simultaneously issue proper unearthed recordings of the invisible legends of Jean Logarin and his troupe, all to the highest possible spec.

Only a few releases left for the year, announcements soon.
